Plenty to see and do at Marazion, St Michael’s Mount and nearby
We are very lucky to live and work in a town like Marazion. As well as the great people who give Marazion its community spirit, we have plenty of activities and things to do to keep us occupied.
Of course, no visit to Marazion would be complete without a trip to St Michael’s Mount. Just a short walk across the causeway at low tide or catch a ferryboat if the path is covered. In Marazion itself, we have a town museum, two churches, the oldest Friends Meeting House in Cornwall, plus several interesting streets to explore.
If you like sand between your toes, then head down to our beach. Gorgeous sands are cleansed every day by the tides of Mount’s Bay and it is one of the safest bathing beaches in Cornwall – in fact, it was named as one of the world’s top ten bays a few years back. Should you want to try something new, kitesurfing, stand-up paddleboarding and surfing are all available locally. Plus, we have the Mount’s Bay Sailing Club and Mount’s Bay Gig Club in the town.
Children are catered for with two fully-equipped safe play parks at the Folly Field and at the top of the town. That is, of course, if you can get them away from the beach. Plenty of places to stop and get an ice-cream as well.
If you love nature, you’ll love Marazion Marsh nature reserve. Managed by the RSPB, it is Europe’s largest reedbed and is one of the most significant wildlife habitats in the UK. Mount’s Bay is also home to a great variety of wildlife and you might be lucky enough to spot dolphins or basking sharks in the bay.
There are plenty of great walks in and around the town and many cycle routes for touring out from Marazion. We have also put together some suggestions for great day trips that you can easily take from the town.
