DL reported that, subject to obtaining satisfactory references, the Town Council has appointed a new Town Clerk.

DL commented and GR agreed that it was ‘business as usual’ now for Town Council.

DL asked for ideas for a Town Walkabout that was planned for tomorrow (15th September).  Mike suggested that they look at the verges where the hedges have been recently cut as there is a lot of shredded plastic there.  The group discussed the possibility of ‘Countryside Cleans’ as well as Beach Cleans.  DL said to send him an email with any more ideas.

It was noted that the toilets in The Square would remain open until at least the end of September.

MzCSG MK said that he had helped out with the management of the flu clinic last Saturday.  The clinic started @ 8.30am but there was already a big queue around the building @ 7.50am when MK arrived.  MK said that the clinic was very well organised and managed by both admin and nursing staff.  The group passed on their congratulations to all involved.  By lunchtime around 700 flu injections had been administered.

MK said that there had only been 2 phone calls to the covid helpline since the last meeting and it remained really quiet.  The group agreed that the helpline is now well known locally and would be used again in the event of any second wave.

Marazion Churches PB reported that the Chapel is open and operating with a ‘new normal’ and all is  PB again reminded the group about the donation that the Chapel had received to be used for the benefit of Marazion Town.  MK said that there could be some funding needed to care for pets that were currently being fostered while their owner is unwell. well.

JG also reported that all is well @ All Saints Church and that it seems that weddings and funerals are still going ahead although there is now the ‘Rule of 6’

Marazion School JR reported that Marazion School is now fully open with adults and children working in class bubbles.  The school is operating staggered start and finish times for classes.  Some hot lunches had strated this week and it is hoped that Breakfast Club can restart from 21st September as well as after school ‘Bubble Clubs.’ Adults and children are remaining in their class bubbles for an after school club once a week.  JR, like PB, spoke of working with a ‘new normal.’

JR added that the building work carried out on the school roof was almost complete and that the builders were now only working on site out of school hours.

JR said that the school was  using Morrisons’ new local delivery service for supplies for Breakfast Club and that this was working well.

The group agreed that the parking on School Lane was vastly improved at the moment.  JR commented that parents and children were being brilliant about walking/biking the last part of their journey to school.

AOB GR commented that the town definitely feels busier than it did this time last year.  The group discussed the likelihood of an extension of the holiday season in Marazion into October / November.
