Marazion Town Council | DL reported that Marazion Playing Field playground refurbishment has been delayed due to lack of materials available. It is hoped that work on the playground will start w/c 7th September
DL commented that it was ‘business as usual’ now for Town Council. Remote meetings continue via Zoom. Shortlisting for a new Clerk is taking place shortly. At the moment, face to face interviews are planned for this role. DL, WC and GR agreed that the town was currently operating well and that the town is busy. It was reported that the majority of people in the town are wearing face masks. |

MzCSG | MK said that he still has some donations from Morrisons – a drop off of these goods to Marazion School was agreed for Wednesday 26th August. The group again thanked Morrisons for their brilliant support for local families.
MK said that phone calls to the covid helpline had now stopped – everyone seems to be out and about. However, MK is still doing a couple of proactive calls to make sure that people are still safe and well. It was noted that the phone line was still there if needed. |

Marazion Churches | It was reported that both All Saints Church and Marazion Methodist Church are open. | |
Marazion School | JR reminded the group that Marazion School opens to all pupils in September and that risk assessments had already been completed for this reopening in July and shared with the school community. The school plans to work with separate ‘bubbles’ with staggered start/finish times.
The group discussed recent government guidance, which has been released regarding the reopening of schools, in particular about the wearing of face masks in schools. WC asked about the cleaning of Marazion School and if this would be done more than once a day. JR explained that cleaning procedures had been further developed during lockdown so that the school could partially open safely. There is now much deeper cleaning across the school on a daily basis. JR also commented that the cleaning of the school is not just the responsibility of the Cleaning/caretaking team but that staff and children are aware of how to use good hygiene practices. It was agreed that this is a very positive thing and these better hygiene procedures are becoming the new normal. DL commented that it will be interesting to see if these new normal measures have an effect on the spread of flu and other illnesses in schools. DL commented that there wouldn’t be handwashing stations on the PF playground. Instead, the expectation is that children will have their own anti-bac hands before/after using the equipment. |
