Marazion Church is perhaps best renowned for the hymn-writer Henry Francis Lyte (1793-1847) who served as Curate in Marazion in 1817 and famously penned the hymns ‘Praise my soul, the King of Heaven’ and ‘Abide with me’. (The words of the latter adorn the Marazion War Memorial opposite the Church).

This lovely Victorian church was designed by the architect J Piers St Aubyn and was consecrated in 1861. This is the third church on the site, the first one being in recorded use as early as 1309. Much maintenance work was done between 1986 and 1992. The church has many interesting stained glass windows.

A small church shop is run during the summer months. During these periods, the church is open for visitors to enjoy. In December, the church holds a Christmas Tree festival with trees decorated by businesses and organisations in the town.

All Saints Church is one of the four parish churches of the Mount’s Bay United Benefice along with Ludgvan, St Hilary and Perranuthnoe.

A monthly community magazine is published and available for download from the website (linked from the left hand column of the home page) at https://mountsbayub.wordpress.com
